The January Improvisation Party was a new experience for us. Linda Ugelow encouraged us to leave our inner critics behind and make music together, spontaneously. We explored improvisation through movement, rhythm, voice, and instruments. Some participants brought their usual instruments, some brought instruments they had not played since high school, some used Linda’s pitched percussion instruments. We started with simple call and response, and built up to surprisingly layered rich music. Many thanks to Shaylor who provided the piano foundation! It was quite an enjoyable gathering.
